If you’ve ever toured our showroom and warehouse, you know I love to brag about our “magical corners.” In each corner of our warehouse, we have workshops like woodworking and sewing where otherwise useless products (like stained linens or broken tables) are transformed—or upcycled—into very useful items for our client families. This keeps those items out of the landfill and puts them to good use.

Woodworkers convert things like hotel headboards (unusable for our families) into tables and cabinet tops. The sewing department creates curtains, tablecloths, placemats, napkins, and more out of fabric that may otherwise end up in a landfill.

We’re proud of our sustainability efforts and expect to divert over 300 tons of waste from landfills through upcycling, reusing, and repurposing items this year. And, of course, it’s such a wonderful feeling to know that reclaimed items plus a little creativity can help make a house a home for our families.

When you give, you can feel good knowing that you’re helping these efforts—providing clean sheets for kids, dinner tables for families, etc. On this World Environment Day, we invite you to help your community and your planet by supporting your local furniture bank, Flourish Furnishings.

Sincerely,

Rich Shockey
